A community located in the southwest of Houston, Texas is another Chinatown called the “Old Chinatown” located within the East Downtown Houston district few distances to the George R. Brown Convention Center. In the 1980s there have been an increasing number of Chinese that were living in Southwest Houston and Fort Bend County and these residents were further away from the Old Chinatown that is now called the East Downtown.
The new Chinatown has begun to expand in the 1990s when Asian American entrepreneurs moved their businesses from older neighborhoods especially in the “Old Chinatown” on the eastern end of Downtown Houston. A search for more inexpensive properties with low crime rates.
