 Museum of Fine Arts Houston

Located in Houston, Texas is one of the largest museums all over the United States, also the 12th largest in the world according to gallery space. Its recent completion of an eight-year campus redevelopment project such as the opening of the Nany and Rick Kinder building in 2020. The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston is housing more than 6,000 years of history and 70,000 works from six continents.

The museum has a permanent collection of almost 70,000 pieces in its 300,000 square feet of exhibition space. The museum’s collections and programs are being housed by nine facilities. The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston is the oldest art museum in Texas. It was dedicated to being a public art museum back in 1917 if the first-ever building was opened to the public in 1924. Prior to its opening, George M. Dickson bequeathed to the exhibitions the very most important American and European oil paintings.

In the 1930s the Houstonian Annette Finnigan donated her antiquities as well Ima Hogg who gave her avant-garde European drawing and prints. The MFAH collection nearly doubled from 1970 to 1989, fueled by continued donations of art along with the advent of both accession endowment funding and corporate giving.
